Post-Doctoral Scholar (Climate Change AI)

The Commonwealth of Kentucky has been awarded a $20M NSF EPSCoR grant to advance research in climate science, geohazards engineering, and disaster management. This initiative named Climate Resilience through Multidisciplinary Big Data Learning, Prediction & Building Response Systems (CLIMBS), involves eight institutions in Kentucky. The CLIMBS program will support seven research projects over the next five years. We are seeking applicants for a post-doctoral scholar position to support Project 7, in the area of machine learning for disaster management (detection, assessment, and response) for an expected one-year appointment with a possible extension to two or more years. The successful candidate will have a PhD in computer science, climate science, or a related discipline. The post-doctoral scholar will be affiliated with the computer science department at the University of Kentucky and mentored by PI Dr. Imran as well as other CLIMBS researchers. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to community resilience in KY and interdisciplinary climate science applications. PhD Students

We are looking for a self-motivated PhD students from Fall 2024 to work on multimodal vision, generative AI, and biomedical data science. If you are not at UK already, you need to apply to the Computer Science PhD program. In addition, you can contact the PI Dr. Imran with your full CV, academic transcripts, and a cover letter describing your research interests and goals.


For UK Undergrad/Grad Students

There are openings in the group to work on deep learning and medical imaging projects. Preference will be given to students who enrolled in one of the classes that Dr. Imran teaches, such as CS 460G. Please contact the PI to discuss if you are interested!
